Moussa Solano was a prominent Guinean political figure who served in multiple ministerial positions under President Lansana Conté's regime, most notably as Minister of Territory Administration and Decentralization. His political career was closely tied to the Party of Unity and Progress (PUP), which he led as president from 2010 to 2015.

In 2001, Solano played a significant role in Guinea's constitutional politics, being identified as one of the key architects of a constitutional referendum that removed presidential term limits. This change allowed President Lansana Conté to secure a third seven-year term in office.

Following his tenure in government, Solano remained active in national politics, notably participating as a candidate in the 2010 presidential election, which ultimately saw Alpha Condé rise to power. Prior to his death, he had been involved in recent leadership disputes within the PUP, challenging the leadership of Fodé Bangoura, whose mandate had expired in 2020.

Known for his deep understanding of Guinean history and recognized as a skilled orator and astute politician, Solano had extensive experience working throughout Guinea. In his final months, he was part of a group of PUP founders and executives calling for a party congress, particularly in response to accusations from party activists that the current leadership had compromised the party's principles in dealings with the military junta.

Moussa Solano passed away on December 26, 2024, in Conakry, Guinea, reportedly due to cardiac arrest following a brief illness.
