Louopou Lamah is a Guinean politician who has marked the recent history of her country. Education

From an early age, Louopou Lamah showed a keen interest in studies. After obtaining her bachelor's degree in secondary education, option experimental sciences, at Lansana Conté General High School in Nzérékoré, she continued her university studies at the Julius Nyerere University in Kankan. In 2001, she obtained her degree in economics with good mention.

But Louopou Lamah did not stop there. Thro her career, she has continued to train and acquire new skills. In 2012, it obtained a certificate of participation in the advanced course of the WTO Agreement on the Implementation of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures in Geneva. In 2013, she obtained a certificate of speciality in administration management from the Institute of Political Studies of Bordeaux in the framework of the Franco-Guinean programme "Rejuvenating and feminizing the Guinean administration".

Professionnal career

Before joining the public service, Louopou Lamah cut her teeth as a monitor within the NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF) in the forest region for two years. She then completed an advanced training course in the same NGO in Conakry.

On September 20, 2005, she was hired into the Guinean civil service. From then on, his career experienced a meteoric rise. In 2015, she took charge of the multilateral trade relations division at the national directorate of foreign trade and competitiveness at the Ministry of Commerce.

Between 2016 and 2018, Louopou Lamah held the position of Deputy National Director of Foreign Trade and Competitiveness. She was also the chief negotiator of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for the Republic of Guinea.

Louopou Lamah's political career really began in December 2018, when she was appointed National Director of Foreign Trade and Competitiveness at the Ministry of Commerce. This appointment marked a major turning point in his career and paved the way for greater responsibilities.

On 21 October 2021, Louopou Lamah was appointed Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, Chairman of the National Committee of the Assembly for Development and President of the Republic. She became the first female minister appointed by the new regime.

Retrieved in the government of Bernard Goumou until 20 August 2022, Louopou Lamah was then appointed Minister of Commerce, Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises on 18 November 2022, replacing Rose Pola Pricemou in this strategic position.

Minister

As Minister of Commerce, Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Louopou Lamah has taken strong and bold decisions to protect the national economy and ensure the country's food security. On 17 July 2023, it banned for a period of six months the export of several essential foodstuffs, such as rice, onion, potatoes, chili peppers, fresh pepper, apricot, gombo, fresh tomato, taro, manioc, maize, manic and maize flour, fonio, ignom, sweet potato and dietary red oil.

This drastic, although controversial, measure was aimed at ensuring adequate supply of basic food products from the Guinea internal market. Louopou Lamah has thus demonstrated his willingness to make difficult but necessary decisions in order to safeguard the interests of the Guinean people.

Private life

Behind the political woman lies a personally accomplished woman. Louopou Lamah is married and mother of four children. She was able to brilliantly reconcile her professional and family life, thus demonstrating an extraordinary strength of character and organizational ability.
