La Reine de Banian victim of robbery in Conakry

The queen of Banian, Tenin Diawara, and her husband were the victims of a theft of an estimated value of 7800 euros in the night of Monday to last Tuesday, at their home in Conakry.

It is with deep consternation that the famous Guinean artist, Tenin Diawara, and her husband, Cams Melodie, discovered the robbery of their home in Conakry, in the night of Monday to Tuesday. Contacted this Friday by Ndimba Radio, her husband delivered a touching testimony about the circumstances of the theft and the losses suffered.

"It was in the night of the 28th to the 29th. I just got home from work around midnight. My wife was with me in the living room, and we decided to go to bed. Usually, we leave our things in the lounge, including car keys and all phones. But that day, by chance, we had removed the phones from the lounge," said Tenin's husband Diawara.

He continued, telling the details of the robbery: "The criminals arrived and broke the protective bars of the windows, those of the living room and that of a room where my wife keeps her personal belongings. They broke into and stole two computers worth EUR 4 000, as well as my EUR 7 000 and my wife's EUR 800. They also took six basins, perfumes, threads and my external hard disk containing the project of all the artists, an invaluable loss for our artistic community.”

This sad news sparked a wave of emotion among Tenin Diawara fans and actors in the music industry in Guinea. Local authorities were called upon to step up security measures to protect citizens and their property from such criminal acts. Meanwhile, Ténin Diawara and her husband are struggling to recover from this trauma and hope that justice will be rendered.

This robbery has damaged the image of Conakry, a regular theater of acts of banditism despite the efforts of the law enforcement forces. Inhabitants of the Guinean capital are once again shocked by this armed robbery of a public figure.
