Young Customs Officer Assassinated in Conakry: Aminata Oularé Shot Dead in the Night

A 24-year-old customs inspector, Aminata Bebi Oularé, was assassinated in the night between Tuesday, February 18, and Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in the SIG Madina district of Conakry. The victim was found lifeless around 6 AM, having received gunshot wounds to the head just 50 meters from her temporary residence.

According to initial investigation findings, the tragedy occurred around 3 AM. The young woman, who usually resided in Yimbaya Tannerie, was staying at her maternal aunt's house in SIG Madina, where she commonly spent the night when going out. Witness accounts reveal that Aminata Oularé had spent the evening there, even helping to contain a small fire that broke out around 10 PM.

The exact circumstances of her death remain unclear. Around 3 AM, the victim reportedly called her cousin by phone, asking her not to lock the house and indicating that she was nearby, in the SIG area. Shortly after, gunshots were heard in the neighborhood. The young customs officer's body was discovered lying in a pool of blood in a corridor leading to her residence.

Initial findings by the forensic police revealed two bullet casings at the crime scene. Sources close to the case mention a "coup de grâce" to the head. No signs of theft were found on the victim, potentially indicating a targeted assassination. Some witnesses implicate a member of the defense and security forces, though these allegations will need to be verified by the ongoing investigation.

The Mafanco prosecutor immediately opened an investigation, entrusting it to the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ). The victim's body was transferred to the Ignace Deen hospital morgue, where an autopsy will be performed at the request of customs services.

This tragedy has sent shockwaves through the customs community and among the victim's loved ones. Aminata Oularé, recently appointed as a customs inspector at just 24 years old, represented a new generation of civil servants. Her brutal death raises numerous questions about the security of state agents and the motives behind this crime, which currently remains unexplained.

Investigators will need to determine whether this assassination was linked to the victim's professional duties or if it stems from other motives. The family and colleagues of the young woman, who are in shock, now await answers about this tragedy.
