Naby Keita, the 29-year-old Guinean international who played for Werder Bremen, has unexpectedly left the German club. Despite being under contract until June 2026, the midfielder will not see out the full term of his deal.
After participating in the Olympics, Naby Keita found himself in conflict with Werder Bremen's management. The two parties have therefore mutually agreed to terminate their collaboration.
"The discussion was very open, and we came to a joint decision that seemed the most appropriate for the situation," explained Clemens Fritz, the club's football director. "On the one hand, we wanted to focus fully on the rest of our pre-season and the start of the new campaign, and on the other hand, Naby had been thinking this way for some time."
Captain of the Guinean national team, the Syli National, Naby Keita had arrived at Werder Bremen in 2020 after spending four seasons at Liverpool. His surprise departure from the Bundesliga comes while he was still under contract for two more years.
Now the question is, what will be the next destination for this Guinean football icon? At 29 years old, Naby Keita surely hopes to quickly revive his career and find a club where he can thrive fully. His talent and experience make him a highly sought-after player on the transfer market.
