Guinean artist Tenin Diawara was recently the victim of an attempted scam orchestrated by a group of four individuals. The case, which has made headlines in Conakry, led to the arrest of the suspects by the police following a complaint filed by the singer.
According to initial reports, the accused – Aboubacar Sir Soumah, Aboubacar Camara, Mariama Ciré Camara, and Alkhaly Daffé – allegedly devised a scheme to manipulate Tenin Diawara by making her believe that her ex-husband, Cam’s Mélodie, had hired criminals to take her life. The apparent goal of this ploy was to extort money from the artist by exploiting her fears after her recent divorce.
Investigators from the central police station of Kaporo-Rails took up the case on January 20, 2025. Following extensive investigations, they arrested the four suspected scammers, who were then presented to the press on February 6, 2025. The police emphasized that these acts are punishable under Articles 19 and 403 of the Guinean Penal Code, underscoring the seriousness of the offenses attributed to the suspects.
Amid the widespread rumors circulating on social media, Tenin Diawara publicly spoke out to clarify the situation. She categorically denied the allegations that she had involved her ex-husband in this case by having him summoned by the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ). "I would never send my child's father to the DPJ… This is not true, I am not involved in this case," she firmly stated.
For his part, Cam’s Mélodie also addressed the public to denounce the spread of false information on social media. "People are just unbelievable… They speculate on baseless things," he reacted, dismissing the rumors suggesting a supposed "mystical murder."
This incident highlights the dangers of manipulation and scams that celebrities can fall victim to. Thanks to the vigilance of the authorities and the prompt reaction of the victim, this attempt was foiled, and the suspects will now have to answer for their actions before the Guinean justice system.
